Let's say..
The carbon plague happens..
Everything that they tell us can go wrong, DOES go wrong..
War, Famine, Mass death...
This is grim.. but.. as long as SOME of our "generous 7 billion" people survive, it should turn out ok.
Whatever ecological damage that could've come from our past 200 years would be rapidly resolved by Nature in far less time, when Most-of-us, have died..
And assuming our technological knowledge is "preserved" on file, safe somewhere or everywhere, boats load of laptops and servers.
Humanity WILL thrive once again, and this time, for the better, because we'd have all the developed technologies, WITHOUT the immense overgrowth of population..
This in NO WAYS justify further contamination / destruction, but... I'm really just not that worried..
Hahahaha
