Title: geteron pegs too thick for pcb mount?
Post by: Giorgio on Sun, 26 April 2015, 04:06:18
Can anyone confirm this problem?

As many of you know, there is a small defect with the Gateron molds. This being that the pegs for the PCB mount are just barely too thick to fit into a PCB properly. This means that you can either a) cut off the PCB legs or b) sand them down to fit properly. I went with option b because I prefer the added stability of the PCB mount legs. This was by far the most tedious and time consuming part of the process.

With a bit of force they fit in fine stock

Yes. I think it's intentional so that they are harder to pull out.

Mine was a plate mounted build, but without shoving the pegs it fits just fine, maybe forced a little more than for cherries.

Fine, so you just need to make all your forces... gather on... the top of the switch and press? No big deal  :)

It's because they are designed for optimal girth

Haha !

Gateron seems to have a higher tolerance level than Cherry even if they look very (very) similar.

"Cherry has a tighter tolerance and Gateron a looser tolerance.

The tolerance band for Gateron is plus OR minus 0.05 on the diameter of 1.7. Cherry only has a minus 0.05."

I think you mean Cherry has a tighter tolerance and Gateron a looser tolerance lpwl. The tolerance band for Gateron is plus OR minus 0.05 on the diameter of 1.7. Cherry only has a minus 0.05.

No worries! I wanted to double check the semantics of the tolerance, not your English. Your English is great!
