I wonder how the texture from diffrent manufactors feels like.
PBT often gets described as having a raw texture but when I got a Ducky PBT set the texture was the opposite of raw. There was allmost no texture at all.
It was special to get used to but right now I love this keycaps.
Then I got a pbt set from banggood and the texture was really raw.
Is there a list, where you can look up the texture from diffrent manufactures in comparision?

What do you mean by "raw"? Rough?

yeah rough

Great topic. Bump.

Maybe OP can ask for single unused key donations from people and check them all out yourself and do a review? The feel of keycaps is very subjective from person to person. Plus good macro shots would be a must.

You could even do the macro shots without any donations. I could post macros of Topre and Vortex PBT caps if anyone really wants to see them.

Yup, I would

I can't give you macro shots but I have a good selection of PBT sets and can give you my personal opinions of their texture.
I have:
- BSP
- Vortex Stock Poker II
- Leopold Thick from FC750R
- Geekkeys Thick(unknown manufacturer)
- Vortex Doubleshot PBT
- Tai-Hao Doubleshot PBT
- Imsto Dyesub in the mail (Vortex thick keycaps with Imsto dyesub)
The PBTs I am missing off the top of my head are SP, Plum, Keycool, Ducky, and any Topre.
Okay ranking them from smoothest to most textured/rough(1 being smoothest)
1. BSP (Personal favorite in terms of feeling)
2. Vortex Thick (stock Poker II)
2. Leopold
3. Vortex Doubleshot (feels rougher than the thick)
4. Geekkeys Thick
5. Tai-Hao Doubleshot
I have Vortex thick and Leopold tied because it's too hard to tell a difference between them feel wise.

Banggood is almost like fine sandpaper. Jarring at first, but nice when you get used to it.

OK, here are a couple.
Topre:

Vortex:

Both of them feel about the same IMO.

The vortex seems a bit "bubblier". I can understand how such a small difference cannot be noticed during usage, though. I find it hard to believe anyone could tell many different PBTs apart during a blind test.

Some keys feel like really thin sandpaper and others feel like a bigger number sandpaper

Thank you for understanding that Dirt McGirt is in everyone of us. :D

I would love to ask for unused key donations and do a review.
But I live in switzerland and shipping the keys to me could be a little bit expensive :(
So the macroshots could help. I will have to search my cam to do some potato pics.
I was hoping for a list like KnivesM wrote one.

My friend in high school had a fake ID that was Russell Tyrone Jones. Not a single bouncer in Philly ever came close to getting it. :D
