Title: Panasonic KX-W900 in Devon, England

I don't know what kind of keyswitches Panasonic typewriters used.  Local pickup from Newton Abbot.

Pretty sure this one is some type of terrible rubber dome. Some (especially earlier) models of Panasonic typewriters used Alps switches.

That's a shame.  And I guess there aren't any Panasonic Toughbook laptops with decent keyboards either?

Pretty sure this one is some type of terrible rubber dome...

But at the very least you could pick it up personally, and then you'd get a trip to the UK out of it... Not bad!

Whoa. The industrial design of it... It looks like a video cassette player from the '80s with a keyboard. :)

I actually stumbled upon a sibling to this typewriter in a thrift store today. Not the exact model, but very close.

I pulled a key and checked. It has a coiled spring over membrane. The slider is integrated into the keycap, so not compatible with any mechanical switches that I know of.
The key action is linear and light with short throw. Creaky on off-centre key presses.
Nice texture on the keys though: gritty without being coarse.
