Title: Chicony E8H5IKKB-5191 - how to clean and do not break switches?
Post by: Mechanical Click on Sun, 03 May 2015, 17:38:15
Hello,

Soon I will have at home Chicony E8H5IKKB-5191, it will be my first mechanical retro keyboard I'm very excited! :)

This keyboard has mounted Futaba clicky switch (Cherry MX mount)

For sure keyboard will be dirty, so before I start to touch it I want to clean it! ;D
For case I think warm water with soap and sponge should work well, or maybe you have better idea?

The problem is, how to clean the switches, I don't want to break them!
Should I open them? Old plastic it's not flexible like it used to be 20 years ago!
I'm searching for guide how to do this, please give me some advice, thank you! :)
