Title: LED on MX / Topre Switches Question...
Post by: whizzard on Mon, 04 May 2015, 14:26:51
Hey just a quick question.  I am making artisans and have found a way to make translucent eyes / mouth on the face of the key.  Are the LED hole positions on switches always at the bottom of the switch?  Mine are, but not sure if all are.  Because of this I was thinking of only making the mouth (bottom part) translucent.. because when I do both eyes and mouth only the bottom mouth part is well lit.  Do any switches have the LED positioned at the top of the switch (meaning where the eyes would be).

It depends on the orientation made available by the PCB.  Some orient the switches with the LED hole on top, others with the LEDs on the bottom.

Thanks... that makes sense.  And that goes for MX and Topre?

The only LEDed 'topre' I can think of is the royal kludge, which I believe has leds in the top left corner:
