Hey guys,
I bought an HHKB Type-S off a dude on Reddit and it came with Black sliders. Aren't they supposed to be Purple??
I'm gonna have to open it up and see if it's not dental band modded instead (although it doesn't feel like it)... But my 2 @ key clicks in a weird way when it bottoms out, like it's in 2 stages...

They are always black. Only the Realforce comes with purple sliders.

Ok, well that puts one of my worries aside, thank you for that! Also compared to a regular slider (since we're on the topic), are they taller? I would guess so because dental banding a regular HHKB takes away from the bottoming out distance.

The base is thinner thus compensating for the added thickness from the rubber rings.

Can you achieve the same thing from filing down some of the base?

You'd probably have consistency issues, but I don't see why not. And the silent sliders (at least the purple ones) are indeed a hair taller than the non Type-S sliders.

My Novatouch has purple sliders.

It's gonna rain tomorrow...

Your dome/spring could be just a little off in the 2 keys that click.

Yea I'm gonna open it up tonight and see what's up... or maybe in a few days when I get the topre shipment from japan :x
Goal is to make my new black HHKB into a 55g Type-S

I've always wanted to do that. :D

Yes they're taller hence why I like dental banding better.

For about 30s (before I sold my dental banded HHKB), I got to test the Type-S with my old HHKB side by side... to be honest, ever since I had dental banded it, the bottom out feeling was completely different. I much prefer the travel of the Type-S (although I think the dental banded HHKB was more silent)...
