I highly suggest getting long legged SIP sockets, while i soldered them ok in the end, they sit just under the surface and is a pain! Get the long legs if you can!

Nice build! Really like that shade of green :thumb: Very interested to see what sort of keyset you put on that board.

Gateron stems,  I've heard cherry clear stems don't pay nice in gateron bottom housing, habe not tested myself to.

When i finished my above build my left winkey was not registering, and I Initially chalked this up to a bad joint, and some lazy soldering on my part. I have since, Resolder this 3 times, changed out the switch twice more out of curiosity. I will take some photo's on the weekend, But does anyone have any quick suggestion on what to check.

Everything else is working perfectly. It is the only key that will not register, The LED on that key are fine.

Can you take a picture of the underside of the pcb where the L winkey is?

Also, did you have any clearance issues with the clear switch tops and the 2x3x4 leds? Considering getting set of the switch covers, however I don't feel like sanding down all those individual leds  :'(

Will take some photos when i get a chance.

The switch tops are fine,  2x3x4 you have to sand If you're going to use cherry profile.

I've since removed most my led's as i mainly had them in for soldering the SIP sockets and testing the connections.  I sanded down the few i kept.

hey man, did you get the SIP sockets without the plastic around them? Did you break them out of the plastic housing??

I broke them out of their housing. Time consuming!

Nice job man. You have some impressive patience. That is a TON of time to spend on switches. How long did all of it take? I would guess days and days.

So here is my Lwin soldering option, pretty ****ty :D Still learning!

Is it covering the adjacent joint a problem? i thought not at first, but this photo got me thinking!

Anyway any help would be appreciated

I prepared the SIP sockets a long time ago, and did the switches over i guess 3 nights for this build. Separated them all one night, then put them all together and  and lubed in to batches.

I just set-up in front of the TV on a coffee table and went to town slowly! Always handy if you have something else distracting you from the monotony at times.

Can you follow the traces back to where they meet other holes/pads? What happens if you bridge the two pads for each pin directly (without depressing the switch)?

Having solder in the adjacent hole won't matter but I'm more surprised to see how much solder you have in that adjacent hole since I figure it should look more like your L ctrl one.

Edit: after looking at the picture again the soldering on all your bottom row switches don't look very good, the row above all look fine though, have you tried desoldering and soldering your L Win key once? If not I'd recommend it. Also while you have it desoldered you may as well open the switch again to see if the leafs are indeed touching each other as it's possible that you slightly bent it or something when you opened them cause the switch to be permanently open.

I should have read the rest of the thread before saying anything, sorry.
Yeah hopefully you have a loupe that you can check your traces with because if you've tried other switches then it's most likely the traces.
Also do you know if the PCB you're running has some kind of Windows key lock that might be engaged?

I will check the firmware first and see if there are any answers there!
