Title: Thoughts on 72g Clears and Blacks?
Post by: Karura on Sun, 10 May 2015, 17:57:32
Hello,

I'm currently picking springs (Sprit gold ones) to bulk buy and needed some input regarding 72g custom Korean springs.

I will probably buy 6 bags to build 4-5 boards with both vintage black and clear switches, so the 72g will be for both.

I have tried 62g, 65g ergo clears, and they are still too light.

I am not a big fan of stock clear springs, or stock new black springs, they are a bit too heavy for me.

I understand 72g is probably very close to stock weight, but hopefully lighter enough that the switches feel more cushiony rather than hard and mushy.

Alternatively the other choice is 68g, but I felt 65g was still super light, so maybe 72g is a step lighter than stock black/clear yet two steps up from 65g.

Hopefully someone actually has a board with 72g clears and can post their thoughts, 72g black thoughts are also appreciated, although I'm mostly curious about the clears.

Cheers

I think 68g is perfect.  72g is basically stock with a different force curve.

My personal preference is (as for the springs in MX blues and MX clears):
65g = a tad too light for me
68g = perfect for me
72g = a tad too heavy for me

I think it would be similar with linear switches.

Thanks for all the replies, Nubb, Eszett.

So looks like originally I was going to spring for 68g since 65g is almost perfect, but I was second guessing my choice.

Will probably get 68g then, will report when all is built and done :)
