Title: Which backlit keyboards should I consider?
Post by: MKB on Wed, 13 May 2015, 23:28:00
Looking for a backlit keyboard.  Which brands / models are worth considering?

Looking for a full size keyboard, would prefer blue LEDs and cherry, clear, blue, brown or reds...

I've never seen a complaint about ducky before. They seem to have a solid rep. There's that white ducky shine 4 in stock on there. It's got red and blue leds, and the white looks really nice. Or you could go with the one from max keyboards; my friend has one with browns and he says its pretty nice. The benefit for the shine 4 though is that it has a detachable cable and dual color leds, whereas the max doesn't have a detachable cables and only has one color. The first page on there is basically all out of stock.

Ducky is excellent, and probably the biggest range of LED colours and switches.  As well as a few different case colours.

CM QFR-i is also popular, although a few people have complained that LEDs die too quickly.

CODE keyboard is also popular, especially with MX clear switches.

All of these have standard layout, so keycap replacement, should you choose to, will be relatively painless.

Thanks to both of you.  The CODE does look very nice...  Also the Ducky Shine...

Does the Ducky 4 come a more subdued space bar?  Or have folks swapped that out?

Easy to get a replacement. They make it with the designs to show off the 3 LED they have under that sucker.
