Title: Leopold FC660C Serial Numbers
Post by: HalfSharkAlligator on Thu, 14 May 2015, 23:55:52
I have this board with a serial number in the 700's.  Does this make it an older and rarer board?  I am going to do the silence mod but it requires of course punching the warranty sticker.  I'm thinking, if this is a lower serial number board, maybe I want to buy another to mod and keep this one in nicer condition.  Thoughts?  Am I overthinking this?

Is there any difference between old and new?

Can't say I've seen any mention of older boards being 'rare', is this a thing?

The serial number on mine is 386. It came from the first batch sold by EK in the US. I would hardly consider it old or rare compared to my other keyboards.

+1, I didn't think this was a thing either...and the FC660C isn't like the Model M where there are so many variations it's necessary to ID by serial/model number anyway.

OP, I think you're overthinking. If you're not gonna use the warranty service, what's stopping you from going to town on your board?  :)

Quite a few of the earlier ones had fading legends after only a little use.

Haven't heard much about that since.

Maybe they changed the legend printing process or something in later batches?

Oh yes, mine definitely has the fading legends.  I've been keeping my eyes open for a set of replacements caps.
