Title: Questions about the Vortex Gear KBTalking Race

Hello,

I have a few questions about the RACE. I recently got a RACE (non-II) with Cherry MX Red switches. I also have a Ducky with browns so I wanted to try the linearity of the switches. Turns out I would like to swap them with browns.


The reason I got a RACE I instead of II is the F11 and F12 keys. I think it will be hard to get another RACE I with brown switches so I might need to look at other 75% or the RACEII. Where do I go to find out if the RACEII can be firmware modded? I know Pokers are and this board is nearly identical. Thanks guys

  • Are these switches plate or PCB mounted, I'm not sure
  • Can I replace this switches without soldering, it has LEDs?

Switches are pcb mounted and you will have to desolder the leds to remove the switch tops/swap out switch internals

Same here. I love Race 1 cuz the F11 & F12. Maybe you can take a look at keycool 84?
The green circles you need to desolder. 2 LED on the top, 2 for the switch.
