Post by: Nikelu on Tue, 19 May 2015, 08:21:47
In look for a topre, might be visiting US soon.(mid summer) I haven't got a problem with it being 60% or Full, just the best experience for the money I am going to spend.

It would be best for you try a board out before committing to see what works for you.

there's the Topre Leopold that's "best value"

but.. you should really be looking into split keyboards at this point..

Rectangle is played out.

Where are you from? I'm assuming somewhere that shipping makes it crazy to buy one to try and then resell if you hate it.

Where in the US are you going?

Oh... and HHKB.

I´m between Novatouch (From Amazon) HHKB (From AMAZON.JP) or 660C( Expensier or the 3, no stock in most places, Could get it from Amazon.JP) since Mexico has FTA with both countries. Novatouch has free shipping, the other two i can only expect the worst shipping price i have ever payed in my life.

I second this, if it's possible. Feeling is a bit of a subjective word, so I'm thinking you're after the quality/price figure.

I personally feel that the Realforce boards provide the best bang for buck out of box. However, the CM Storm Novatouch uses Topre switches and MX-compatible sliders, so if customizing your board (or the ability to use custom keycaps) would provide a better "feeling" experience, get that. CTRLALT will eventually sell MX-sliders on their own...so until that day, I'd say the Novatouch is the winner.

I disagree with this suggestion (sorry!). I think it will be much easier to sell a realforce or HHKB if you do not like it than a type heaven.

Hello,

I currently have hhkb pro2 and RF 55g and had a RF variable weighted and have tried the TypeHeaven.

My recommendation for you is to get the RF 55g only.

The Realforce 55g has the most Topre rubber cup-oneness feeling, by far...

By going straight to the RF 55g you basically satisfied your 2 requirements, Quality Feeling and Value for money since you don't have to waste money on other Topre boards (speaking from my own expansive experience) and/or even keycaps (Novatouch...)

I know there is the unique feelings differences of say a hhkb and a fc660c (dye-sub 2014vers) but the price you pay versus the feeling you get is REALLY an expansive trade off.

I second the RF 55g weighted

You can sometimes get a Topre Type Heaven for less than 120. Can't go wrong with that. It's uniform 45g and I swear it feels better to type on than the uniform 45g RealForce variants.

^  I second this.

I haven't try the 55g Realforce yet, but just comparing the variable Realforce to Type Heaven I'd say Type Heaven feels better for sure.

Realforce's 45g dome feels lighter than Type Heaven's 45g for some reason.

Maybe I'll give 55g a shot one day but typically for my line of work I'd need a full size keyboard (This is why I bought the Type Heaven and Realforce 104U first).

But I'd say Type Heaven is definitely amazing for its price.  :thumb:

Buy a Realforce 87U 55g, everything else is for peasants and a waste of money. Ergodox is a close second if your arms/shoulders are different lengths (like TP4's)  :))

typing wise? nothing comes close to 55g RF.

best layout? imo, hhkb. their 45g feels slightly stiffer than 45g RF.

feel wise? they all feel cheap. hhkb feeling the cheapest since it doesn't weigh a damn thing.
