Just bought a keyboard that smells like someone dropped it in a bath full of cologne. Any tips/tricks to getting it back to a neutral odor?
Thanks! :thumb:

Wipe off with IPA. Perfumes are based on alcohol so their ingredients should readily dissolve in IPA.

LOL.. scent is volatile.. So to quicken it's dissipation, put the board in a warm place.. and air it out
WARM, ,not hot.. plastic will warp

Wonder if disassembling and covering the parts in baking soda would work.

you really don't want to put stuff INTO the keyboard unless it's absolutely necessary..
Because it could be hard to get it out if it gets into the small groves.

Currently I wiped it down and it is air drying with caps off. So going with tp4's air it out method. If that doesn't work I think I'll try some IPA.
Don't know if I'll be dumping baking soda in my board yet, might have to pour some vinegar in and have a keyboard volcano.
Thanks for the help!

I was expecting you to say that it either smelled like something else, or was in an unfortunate situation haha.
Try taking it apart and wiping it down with something like rubbing alcohol.

I hate when people do that. You should publicly out him so that we can collectively bully him and send him hate mail. ;D
That should teach him not to do it again.

Is this really a thing? Spraying your keyboard with your scent of choice?
Air dry got rid of some of the smell but it is still noticeable. Going to give it a good rubdown with some IPA and see if that works. :thumb:
