I was browsing through Google Images (Looking for "linux girl" to post as a retort to Ripster's "Geek Girl"), and one of the links led here...

wow... some seriously rose-tinted glasses going on there. Either that, or some fat wallet-stuffing by M$.

Is it just me that is a bit shocked that someone that *seems* intelligent, can be so naive about Linux?

WTF???Even if you want to use Microsoft products, then a Simple "FDISK /MBR" will sort that problem.

I really really hope that this is a (very very good) spoof site.

On further reading, It *has* to be a spoof site. Either that or what little faith I had left in Humanity and Intelligence in the masses is about to plummet off a cliff.

Still, my little faith has not been totally crushed.

Although I like *nix, a lot, and use it as my Primary OS, I don't hate windows. For the Record, Windows7 is the best thing to come out of Redmond since DOS 6.22. I have a copy on Pre-Order (£28 after Discounts for Pro Retail... I can't argue at that, and Price has been my argument with past M$ Operating Systems).

Pretty much all the people listed there are right-wing nut-jobs that even most conservatives wouldn't even vote for. This is an obvious troll.

Good good... I wasn't sure, as I have to deal with M$ fanboys a lot in work ("The one true OS" according to one of them, who sadly is more than competent to use other OS's if he would just bloody try one!), and some approach this level.

Hmmmm... I wonder what their reaction would be if I pointed them to that thread.

This is pretty much it for me. Until MS Office comes out on Linux, Linux is pretty much off the radar. OSX would work for me, but unless we start using it at work, I am not buying the hardware to run it, and I am too lazy and don't have enough time (or care) to f*ck around with a Hackintosh.

This.

No pissing around with CD's/hard drives. No Serial Numbers, No Compatibility or dependency issues. Just apt-get install. Even my Self-Compiled Gentoo does this.

Yep, but.. UGH!

I dunno, it is, as you say, easy. I just didn't like it. It does do dependancy checking, but it failed on a few (Admittedly, I was installing rafts of stuff after a fresh install). It swore blind that I had the required GTK+, but the Software Insisted I didn't. The software was right. apt-get just does what it says.
