Title: K70 rgb change switches?
Post by: klol on Wed, 27 May 2015, 19:31:32
Hi guys,

I'm new here and wanted to know if it's possible to just change the switches in a k70rgb (want to change a few red switches to blue ones) since i saw that it's possible with some other keyboards
(the guy in the video i watched just  removes the cap and changes the red switch for a blue one, it seems to be very simple and easy to do)..
At first i thought that i order myself a PCB from techkeys and just make my own little 2 key keybaord with blue switches but since i literally don't have any experience with this, i wanted to know if
i can just change the switches in my keyboard before i try something difficult.

greetings

klol

Welcome,

The K70 has a mount plate that keeps the switches from being opened. You would need to desolder the switch, remove it, open it, and then replace the stem and reverse the process to make the change. Whether this sounds like "easy" or "omg no" depends on your sense of adventure.

i think i'm able to do that but i'm still a bit afraid of trying it out because the keyboard was so expensive...but thanks for your help.

If you can't solder the techkeys business card how can you desolder and resolder your keyboard?
