Potentially interesting listings, and Brian always sells top-condition keyboards.
Cheers,

I have no doubt that those are good keyboards, they just seem overpriced.

Agreed, but value is in the eye of the buyer.
-
The MX 8100 looks a little high for a used 'board, but the ML 4400 looks about right for a NIB.
-
I have a used but clean ML 4400, beige, in original packaging, but I don't like these. 10 euro and it is yours.
I'm guessing that translates to a lot more if shipped overseas...
-
The MX 8100 apparently has the "clear" MX switches, so I found one at a different auction.

I will get one if they do. Post pics please.

Here's one set of pictures...

The type of switch is confirmed here by Sandy:

I love the title in this auction: Cherry POS Keyboard w/ Credit Card Swiper MX 8100 white (http://cgi.ebay.com/Cherry-POS-Keyboard-w-Credit-Card-Swiper-MX-8100-white_W0QQitemZ370254692293QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5634e63fc5&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14).
I wouldn't call it "white".
Are there any "normal" keyboards with clear Cherries? (Apart from Deck)

The G80-3000LQC??-? features white switches.
-
Here's the auction I got one from for $35:

I'm pretty sure the one this auction has blacks intstead of clears, though.

FYI: http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=4788&highlight=cherry+model+number
I couldn't find this reference in the Wiki. If it's truly not there (i.e. I'm not a complete dumba*s), I will add it as I think it's pretty handy.
EDIT: I added it to the "Cherry Switches and 'Boards" wiki under FAQs. I wanted to give it it's own section, but I couldn't figure out how to edit the TOC and add a new section.

That's incorrect for at least the Compaq MX11800, because the model number is
G80-11801LPAUS
which, according to that guide, would have black switches.
-
Not incorrect, per se, just incomplete. Read the PDF Chole links to at the end of the thread. It looks like there are a lot of different combinations Cherry uses. Perhaps some other folks with more Cherry experience (I'm looking at you, lowpoly) would be able to explain it.
-
Even though there are a lot of models in the G80 range, the serial numbers are different for almost every other keyboard model - especially for OEM runs like the Compaq.
-
I wouldn't call it "white".
"Unit is not cosmetically perfect, they are extremely dirty"
Phew, yeah. They could just as easily said, "Unit is not cosmetically perfect, they were rescued from the pit of an outhouse" and I would have believed them.

I only know the standard codes, not the more exotic ones. :-(

D*mn. Thanks anyway.
It looks like the second letter might represent some combination of connection type and stem. The first letter, for sure, is cap type and the last two are, for sure, the layout.

Here is a G80-8113LUVEU-2 (http://cgi.ebay.com/Cherry-G80-8113LUVEU-2-120-key-Scratch-Dent_W0QQitemZ250492573771QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPCA_Mice_Trackballs?hash=item3a5285584b&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14) with browns. Does that shed any light?

Not really... I would like to know that the board I got actually has "clears". If not...I guess I have a nice new set of black lasered keycaps...
-
I would like to find a cheap, plentiful source of clears in the US......
The one you got, what model number does it have?
-
g80-8963lubus-2
-
Will be interesting to see.
-
Well, it doesn't have clears, or blacks. In fact, it was browns! Weird, but there's a new source of Cherry brown keyboards.
-
Fantastic. Great find.
-
Where's the Rosetta Stone when you need it?
-
Oh, and the keyboard is USB.
-
What kind of shape was it in? POS keyboards tend to be heavily used.
Not bad, missing four clear caps, a little dirtying of the legends, but otherwise pretty new looking.
