Title: Gadgets you use ALL THE TIME..

I use my Infrared Thermometer all the time..

Sometimes for no reason, It's just fun knowing the temperatures of things..

If anything, those mugs work too well.  I accidentally left mine at home once when I left for work, when I came back 9 hours later the coffee was still piping hot  :))

They are awesome, keeps me from drinking a bunch of coffee because it takes me until the afternoon to finish it.

I bought one of the water bottles and they are awesome, bought three more as gifts.

I'll put a bunch of ice and water in it at 5am and at 5pm I'll be shaking ice out of it, that's after refilling it at least once with cold water during the day.

The one I linked is pretty solid, doesn't leak, keeps stuff super cold. The only con is that its not as rugged as a Nalgene type. The outer sleeve thing has a padded bottom so if you drop it that will protect the aluminum body. But a serious drop or drop without the sleeve would probably dent it and may ruin the vacuum seal between the wall layers.

Oh and the stupid strap does comes off.

Digital calipers. To measure stuff. Either hand-built stuff (such as hand-filed switch mounting plates), or for designs in CAD.

It doesn't have to be zojirushi.. 

Most of their thermuses arn't made in Japan either.

So pretty much ANY vacuum stainless will perform roughly equivalently.

It will be a gift, being a *japanese* design (made in taiwan), bpa free, drinkable directly, 12 oz, kawai colors and at a reasonable price in Europe (I checked) are good things in this context.
