1976 was a dream set for me and I immediately wanted something special for it. I originally hydrodipped a QFR for it, but decided it deserved better so I got another Novatouch and had it hydrodipped as well (sold the QFR)

That looks really cool! Not sure what the deal is with people putting the '76 set on hydrodipped boards, but i think the dip looks cool anyway.

How expensive was it to dip?

Edit: I just had a look. $30 is a pretty decent price for that good a finish.

AFAIK livingspeedbump did it first.

I think so, but its not really important. I think the one in the keyboard-of-the-month contest looked amazing as well! BlueNalgene did a fantastic job on his.

Engicoder definitely did a great job on this set. It's just such a unique set, I think that's what I really like about it.

Putting the '76 set on a wood grain veneer case is authentic to the 70's.  Companies in the late 60's into the 70's were looking to make the cheapest product possible and sell it for the highest price possible.  Cheap plastics was the way to make cheap products but consumers 35+ associated wood with quality.  Hence, wood grain veneer (contact paper) over cheap plastic is what was produced. That's why the Atari 2600 has that "wood" panel on the front.

Man, I have begun to realize that keyboards can look good in other colors besides solid black  :p

It took a while for me to get that way too. Still pretty picky though.
