You can still use the plastic bag to smother someone or the laces !!
When I was in high school, a kid brought a gun to school and had it in his book bag until his friend told a teacher and they took the bag and called the police. After that you could only use see through book bags, and it was so convenient that the school started selling these right after so a lot of people bought them until they found out the school was charging like 15$ more than Wal Mart. The bags were thin plastic so they always broke too. It was stupid, if I wanted to bring something I could, clear book bag or not, all it did was piss people off.

Guns aren't a problem.
Bad parenting, mental health, and just down right ****ty people are the problem.
But let's blame guns, because it's easier than taking personal responsibility.

I know how upset you are that you can't hide your gun anymore, so just stick it in the plastic bag and embrace itToo much work to hide it in there. Next time I'll wear it under my belt and show it off as a sign of dominance.

Doesn't the UK have a knife problem since guns are heavily regulated?
It's not only weapons though, egging teachers' cars are still a thing. But I could have done that last week. I thought the point of the administration checking my damn bag was to approve me to carry it. Not to give me a damn plastic bag...

Oh no. Not the eggs. Anything but those. Truly something we need to set up precautions for.
A simple bag check wouldn't be too useful either. Easy to simply use it after it has been checked. Just find another temporary spot for your ****. This is fairly simple stuff, not like you have to be a criminal mastermind to figure out how to get around these systems.
If it's not guns it's something else.Yeah. Now you need to be 18 to buy a butter knife, and you're not allowed to have a knife over 3 inches long in public. Some people even wanted to ban long kitchen knives.

I think the proper term is "assault knives"
Same idea as any semi-automatic rifle being an "assault rifle" and any rifle with optics being a "sniper rifle."
More people are killed in the US each year with HAMMERS than are killed with rifles.
We have several fully armed cops and all they do is bust kids who were dumb enough to bring bud to school. On the last day of school for seniors we have the whole ****ing force at school! Honestly it's all a joke, if **** went down I don't think they'd really help.We have a cop also. Winnetka cops have nothing else to do and want to look cool.
Exactly and false speeding tickets. I got pulled over doing 33 cruise control set in a 30 and the cop tried to say I was doing 40. I mentioned the cruise control being on and he immediately handed back my info and said I was free to go.Winnetka cops have nothing else to do and want to look cool.
As evidenced by the ticketing of cars parked along the street outside your home. ;)
I was walking down the hall once, saw a dog. It depends on the situation but I saw one with a shotgun during a "bust" where they confiscated maybe 4g of bud. Other than that they always have a 9mm and a taser. Winnetka cops have nothing else to do and want to look cool.

Sorry, but what? Knives are of no use? Do you never have the need to open a package, cut a piece of string, anything along those lines? A knife is probably the most useful tool I carry on a daily basis...

Sorry I was more implying outside, carrying around (for example), if I was trying to suggest to total removal and ban on knifes then I think cooking might ranked higher on a list of reasons not to ban them, than cutting string ;) haha

Prepared of what? I can see the logic if your out hunting or in the great outdoors, but in the UK the 'great outdoors' is a small wood populated only with discarded cans of SKOL, what reason do people have to carry a weapon? (A butterfly knife being a good example)
If you allow people to carry knifes etc (the kind that are banned) all that does is force more police action, they need more presence because of the assumed threat and more tools to deal with knifes etc etc...
Like I'm not saying ban outright all knifes, just that the current bans make perfect logical sense. And I don't see why applying that logic dosnt also translate to other items...
If our current laws on knifes and guns allowes the children of the UK to not have to pass through metal detectors and be padded down by policemen just to enter school, it can't be that bad...

My office personnel won't *need* a blade (thought they can definitely come in handy breaking down boxes etc), but what about people who work more trade skills? Say a carpenter. I don't know about you but when I'm doing doing harder work with my blades, I like a fixed blade or at least a knife with a locking mechanism.

This feels like old af news. Was in hs from 99 - 03 and all but the first semester was a full on backpack/purse ban past the lockers. Store what you need in locker, get it between classes. But then, cell phones were 100% banned when I went to school, too.
