They check your bag before school starts and let's you in. However, I had one of those Nike pouches, they checked it said "nah". Gave me a plastic bag for 3 folders and a journal accompanied by a small pouch with pencils. So, what's the point of them holding my empty bag hostage?

Banning bags because people can hide dangerous ****, really? Tell the school board to grow up and realise it's pretty easy to conceal a gun on your person.
It's also pretty easy for one of the more violent and troubled kids to shoot whomever is acting as the security.
You're worsening the learning experience of kids while doing nothing to solve the issue. It's a common theme whereby people come up with solutions that only cause harm.

Demik gets it. There's also the issue of lack of parental involvement due to not making a living wage combined with poor peer influences in low income areas. And fur middle class parents you have poor gun safety practices combined with poor parenting and **** people. Mental illness is a huge issue across the board.
I also I wish all guns came with a gun lock and that people had to take a gun safety course with their first gun purchase.

As a knife collector, from what I've heard knife laws in the UK are SUPER strict. If I remember correctly it's something like nothing over a 3" blade and it cannot lock or be a fixed blade or it's completely illegal outside of the house. Can't buy basically ANY knife under 18 (including like a steak knife set). They have knife "surrender bins" on the streets to let you get rid of your illegal knives...

Oh no. Not the eggs. Anything but those. Truly something we need to set up precautions for.
A simple bag check wouldn't be too useful either. Easy to simply use it after it has been checked. Just find another temporary spot for your ****. This is fairly simple stuff, not like you have to be a criminal mastermind to figure out how to get around these systems.

It depends on the situation but I saw one with a shotgun during a "bust" where they confiscated maybe 4g of bud. Other than that they always have a 9mm and a taser. Winnetka cops have nothing else to do and want to look cool.

Like I'm not saying ban outright all knifes, just that the current bans make perfect logical sense. And I don't see why applying that logic dosnt also translate to other items...
If our current laws on knifes and guns allowes the children of the UK to not have to pass through metal detectors and be padded down by policemen just to enter school, it can't be that bad...

Most office personnel won't *need* a blade (thought they can definitely come in handy breaking down boxes etc), but what about people who work more trade skills? Say a carpenter. I don't know about you but when I'm doing doing harder work with my blades, I like a fixed blade or at least a knife with a locking mechanism.

Although the reason Balisong knifes are banned in most country is super bull**** as they are no more lethal than any other knife.

I try to put my remaining homework in it, they won't allow me to go into school with it. I walk with folders in my arms.
Next day, I hide the bag in my little american airlines pouch, along with my battery. All is good.
Today, they wanted to check said pouch. Didn't wanna deal with them, went and put the bag back into the car and said "**** it, give up"
But, it doesn't matter anymore... A's and B's this quarter. And don't have to wake up early. Well... Except for the SAT this Saturday.
