Discs are still a thing....?
Discs are still a thing....?
It is unless you're a Pirate or a Streamer.
But the 4k Streamers will get at max 25Mbit.. which is actually lower than even Standard Bluray Discs @40Mbit
Not sure I understand the point of this post.
So in order to benefit from 4k, you'd need a decently large screen (http://s3.carltonbale.com/resolution_chart.html) (or you'd need to be obnoxiously close to your laptop).
So this primarily going to apply to people who watch 4k movies, on their laptops/computers, wired to their TV's. In which case I would assume/hope most people have decent dedicated bluray players since they are a hell of a lot cheaper than upgrading a computer.
So it's to warn people that don't have 4k bluray players, but only have bluray on their pc/laptops, and have those systems hooked up to their TVs, that their hardware might be outdated?

This is GH.. I don't think anyone here has bought a disc in years, Yet we're all watching full bitstream files.. ..cough...Show Image(http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion/sillyp1.gif)

Point is.. Everyone needs to beef up their CPUs..

Point is.. Everyone needs to beef up their CPUs..
Upgrading pc tend to be very costly
Um.. a decent 4k bluray player is going to ~ $400 USD
But of course PS4 might be able to play them.. < Unconfirmed >
But if you spend $200 on a cpu and $100 on a mother board.
You can arrrgh ' all the full discs online..
Harddrives are 40Gigs / dollar.
Remux a 4k Bluray, it'll be something like 70-80Gigs
Your cost will be $2 per 4k disc
Retail, is probably $30 per 4k disc
Prices on the screens are dropping dramatically too. I've been eyeing a Samsung 65" 4k, not sure if/when DirectTV will broadcast in 4k but if you haven't seen 4k in person, head down to Fry's or whatever you got, they're pretty nice.
Currently $1800 and droppin

Not until we know for sure.. whether they're going with CInema 4k 4096 pixels or UHD 3840 pixels

That's good advice, I'm patiently waiting =)

I was refering to your first post where you said the upcoming 4k 10bit blue ray requires 5th gen processor
I'm currently running 6 cores 4th gen
going 5th gen would cost too much, new MB+CPU, than new tubing since I'm running watercooling
and at that point I'll realize to get the new GPU since I'm taking apart the loops
dont forget the 4k IPS monitor :D
Already have a 4k TV at home, so rather buy the player which can read the upcoming new 4k blue ray
but if ps4 can read it, than I'm good since I've one on stand by

I specifically mentioned, that you'd need to upgrade to at least a Sandybridge i3..
Everything from then on should play the discs fine..
But the alternate, more common case, will be people might do something M0re than watch blurays simultaneously, which would require the next step up which is quadcore i5 or i7
