It's almost like Audi is coming to the end of it's WEC period and maybe moving on to... different pastures? (having broken and set all kinds of insane records for Le Mans and WEC and it's preceding series incarnations)
There are some talks about Audi going to Formula 1 as engine supplier. The previous Audi president (who resigned some weeks ago) was against it because of a personal feud with Bernie Ecclestone, but now there are some who say that it is a strong possibility now.
I'm preparing myself for this race, in 2011 I've watched 14 of the 24 hours of the race. It's my personal record. :D
Although Audi have categorically denied that they will join F1. But I would like to see them there. There was a discussion about that in the F1 thread.
well after a huge crash for Jan Mangnasen in quali 2 yesterday evening (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHKF-nvWa7s) car number 63 will not be starting the race this weekend.

Hmmm...
The most incredible thing is that the racing was so close for the first 12-ish hours in the LMP1. When they had covered the distance of roughly two F1 races, the distance between the leader and the second car was less than in most f1 races and there were 4 cars on the leading lap after midnight local time. That is amazing.
Have to agree that it is indeed impressive what Porsche have done, especially given that Audi's race pace was actually higher than the Porsches (weird outcome given qualifying) and Porsche beat Audi on their home turf: reliability. I can't say for sure, but nothing really ever happened to #19, did it? With that said, I think the number of people at Porsche thinking #19 would be victorious is probable rather small. #17 or #18 would be a safer bet. Or indeed the #7 Audi. A cumulative of 2 previous Le Mans starts among the three of them. Wow. Just wow.
Yeah the #7 Audi was the favorites to win by a country mile... but yeah and amazing result for the #19 which yeah, I think had a pretty much perfect race, bar the start. Though I think if it hadn't been for that questionable drive through for #17, it would have been #17 that won it... but anyways, what a race and what a result, I only hope this pushes Nico into a better team for next year.
And with the race over, I'll close out the 'coverage' of it with some picture highlights via IncreadibleThings (http://imgur.com/a/8dHPH) gallery!
