Title: Issue with Kinesis Advantage
Post by: rebus on Thu, 04 June 2015, 11:13:26
Hello, I have got a problem with my Kinesis Advantage: the "7" key does not output anything, or better, it does not output the digit 7. If I remap the digit 7 to another key, still that key does not output a thing. If I use the keypad, I manage to type the 7. But that's crazy!

Anyone else experienced this? Any suggestion? Thanks

Looks like faulty switch, or its diode, or trace on PCB which is specific for this switch. If there is such a trace (or better its branch) which goes only to this switch.

Could be a bad key or an issue with the traces leading to it. The design of the PCB for the hand cups means that 7 is going to be on its own at the end of a 'finger' of the PCB. Probably best to contact Kinesis. Trying to replace a switch on that board would be a nightmare and if it's the PCB that's even worse.
