Once again, the M15 makes an appearance. The last time I saw one of these was on ClickyKeyboards a few years ago, nice and hefty price. It does look like a wonderful board, but it's not quite my thing. (I'm saving up my yen for the µTRON.)
Seems to have been lovingly and carefully repaired.

The questions is if model airplane glue (for polystyrene) is the right glue here (for ABS or whatever it is).

Looks interesting...

Well, early bidders are going crazy again...

I asked Brandon of ClickyKeyboards about this, as I was considering trying for this keyboard; here's his take on it:
It looks interesting.. I have seen similar keyboards on ebay go for $650 - $700.
The buyer seems to be very conscientious about describing the problems and the repairs.
Since the keyboard fully works.. but has the minor issues as noted.. it should sell for at least $400 if not $500.

$500 currently. For an adjustable keyboard that can't be fully adjusted:
four of the six rubber-tipped adjustable feet won't adjust -- the screws are "frozen". This is due to a light threadlock compound which I had put on them years ago, which I think can be dissolved with a solvent like WD40 or Liquid Wrench
Somebody must be very confident they can fix that.

I was talking about the practice of early bidding, as can be seen in the item's Bid history (http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=260482014995).
Some smart-ass thought that he could win this by offering $300 and even raising his bid to $495 within mere minutes. Of course, someone else came in and offered $500, outbidding that first bidder. It will probably go further up once another clueless user jumps into the fray.
This happens most of the time when an M15 shows up so prices up to $700 are not uncommon. It's just that it could be less if these users didn't start a bidding war.
-
could I justify that, even for a keyboard like that?
not a chance. They must be japanese. I've never seen anyone else bid crazy like that, though I will put a single early bid in on some items (I usually get it).
-
You also have to understand that the strong Yen allows the Japanese to push the USD price up higher but still pay less Yen for what they are getting. On the other hand that makes things we want to get out of Japan more expensive as well.

$500?! For that money, I'll gladly take anyone's old Model M and chop it in half for them!

Ripster already tried that. I don't think it worked out to well:

After finding the axe did not quite do the job well he just burned it up:

This seller is probably the best, most honest and conscientious seller I have ever seen. While some sellers try to hide blemishes and defects and claim the sale is "completed," you'll know exactly what you're getting in this case.
Luck to anyone here if they're entering the bidding.

If I had the money I would bid on this as I would really like to have one. I also notice that only two bidders are in at this point.
-
Ah, the end is almost near.
Who will go the distance? That Apple board went over 600. I wonder if the M15 will push past 700. Hmmm. Only a few minutes left.
-
And it's gone for 540. Not too bad.
-
yea but did someone from here get it?
-
Why would someone pay $540 for a keyboard? There's so many better things you can buy for that much.

I would pay that much if it was worth that much money. However, I'm not entirely convinced by the merits of a $500 chopped-in-half Model M...
