Anyone else get annoyed with them hitting the keys when typing?
I think I'll probably end up cutting them daily to minimize the problem.
At least I'll look well groomed.
I'm tempted to wear some thin gloves too.

Gloves...like those thin cotton jobbies for handling black-laquered surfaces...what a brilliant idea for keeping a keyboard pristine Rajagra. As for nails, I currently don't have that problem because I bite them to the quick trying to refrain from smoking so it's yellow normal nails or nicotine stained stubs.

Just wear nail polish and dark sunglasses.
Oh wait... yeah, I'm always impressed when I see a woman who has long fingernails who manages to type well. I start having problems if even one of my fingernails is long enough to accidentally brush a key.

When they get long enough to hit the keys then it is time to cut them.

am i remembering correctly... the model m keycaps tolerate longer nails better than many other designs

That's your answer, Rajagra. You don't need to cut your nails. You just need (yet) another new keyboard.

Uhh...... was this before the sex change operation??
it's been awhile since i sent my broken space saver to its next owner :'(

I chew my nails. Filthy habit I know. I chewed them down so hard for a deadline one day, I went half day before realizing I bled all over my keyboard lol, but yeah I'd cut them if they're becoming a hindrance. Unless your occupation is a professional back scratcher, then it might be a conflict of interest

Well I cut them as far as I dared, then filed them a bit more, but they still make contact sometimes. After a couple of days growth it gets annoying. It's as if typing makes nails grow faster, but I know I'm really just noticing them more.
Maybe I needa pair of these touch-typing gloves (http://www.flickr.com/photos/stephen78/2400374598/in/photostream/). I wonder if they come in Colemak.

Funny, I either have long nails or I'm biting them down...Not having a slight length often bothers me more than having a fingernail hit a keys.

No, you need the best glove ever (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_MW8IvaNBlLA/RcdP03ncIYI/AAAAAAAAAAc/0utYA2ZNDGw/s320/strangelove.png).
This one's (http://www.tabletownonline.com/images/strangelove/Dr.Strangelove.jpg) for Ripster.

I think you can use one of these:

I usually take time to care for my nails. It's a habit I got into in my old career when I had to put my hands on patients often. I find that having well groomed nails helps with typing.

I get a little OCD when it comes to my nails, but then again, I am also a bit of a metro-sexual, so I am somewhat OCD when it comes to my appearance in almost all aspects. I keep my nails short, not bleeding-short, but a little past the quick. I also need to keep my nails short for disc golf, too. Having a disc pull on a nail is not fun.

I'm waiting for MsKeyboard to tell us the answer.
I would say it all depends on whether your interested in FORM or FUNCTION.
I am amazed when I go into department stores and see sales clerks typing on usually a flat, closely spaced key keyboards, and they have what appears to be a fresh set of fake nails. Mostly this is a disaster, but sometimes I find someone fully capable of high WPM. The biggest problem I see is that by having longer nails you have to flatten out your hand posture, making for terrible form, as well as multiple key depressions often (maybe it is a good thing NKRO is not standard).
I have also noticed that those with extra long, flashy finger nails do not typically care about their typing skills, nor do those standing behind them at the counter.
YMMV........Later

Well I have a new-found respect for secretaries who spend all day filing their nails. They are like finely-honed athletes preparing for their event.:first:

Ripster,
I really tried to come up with a movie still, but could not think of any worth sharing. I bow to your superior movie memory!
