**** Florida right?
**** Florida right?
this means that we are finally see more of the model 01??? What i like to see is:
- the tenting mechanism (so far is a real mistery)
- full split mode (if there is one)
- a video showing someone typing (can you rest your hands on the wood?? does the palm button get in the way??)
- the "any" button in action!
- and most important, can i just buy one rigth now??? (screw the kickstarter!, give an expensive hand made model ;D)
Regards!
I'm shocked that Winnipeg isn't on the tour ;)
This should be an interesting board. It's certainly pretty.
**** Florida right?
If we could have made it work, we would have been there. :/
As it is, we're driving nearly 9000 miles in 3 and a half weeks.
We went from responses to our mailing list survey, Google Analytics and geocoding the 6500 people on the mailing list.

Google Anal-tics my ass. People have been persecuting us Floridians ever since the 2000 election.
Is there any plan to offer a different case? The board looks amazing but I think a lot of people are not huge fans of the butterfly shape...

We'll be making the mountings specs public, so folks can craft aftermarket cases they love.
As a bit of background, it actually came out of needing a curved guard around the top keys and wanting to provide generous palmrests that don't bite into your hand. The butterfly design was a happy accident. Most folks we've talked to love it, but of course, no one keyboard is perfect for everyone.
I'd love to know more about what you don't like about the design and what you'd design to replace it if you had a free hand.
Best,
Jesse
Still sorting out meetup venues :/ What city?Ny, ny
Going to try and make it to the Philly meet!
Just made the goal!
Truth be told, the nice victim being filmed in the video had never before laid hands on a Model 01, but it was the last minute and we needed typing footage.
Getting some decent typing footage in an update would be cool.++

Id love to see some footage of someone using half a keyboardio as a game controller, some footage of someone using one with photoshop, some footage of someone using one with vim or emacs, etc.
Ideally it would be possible to show both a top-view video of the hands moving on keyboard/mouse and a simultaneous shot of whats happening on screen.
Probably pretty tough to find an expert who has customized one of these to be maximally efficient yet though.

That'd be pretty cool. Can you point me at examples of this being done for another keyboard?

It's not generally doable without remapping. ...

Congratulations on the reaching your fundraising goal. I'm a bit surprised by the low cost for getting a keyboard with all of the features you're building into it. Will that be the retail price as well?
I'm predicting it right now...
This campaign will raise $1M+
Oh, no, I just meant the video recording thing
I'd try to make the one in Ann Arbor, but unfortunately, I start my new job next week and probably won't be able to get it off. Safe travels!DO IT (although I think I am also busy that day)
these keycaps are regrettably impossible for most of us to swap out. Something that discourages every geek buyer.

I'm not really sure why you would want to swap them out... every cap on that board is custom sculpted, that's one of it's coolest features!
I'll be there. I've got a Model F, Das Pro S, Rapoo V500, AEK II, M0116, Fujitsu, and Focus FK-2001. Not sure which I'm going to bring though.

Will he have blank sets available for those who will want to reconfigure their layouts?
Obra, I was wondering why you'd only put 4 thumb keys on the keyboard and not 5?
See:Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/UzBEPNd.png)
Those 2 extra keys on the thumb "row" are easily reached* and it would be so cool to have an extra layer key, or any kind of key, on that row.
* If we take a regular keyboard for instance, a touch typist can still comfortably reach the left Alt key using his left thumb. The left Alt key, compared to the modified Model 01 image above, is even farther away from the thumb. Similarly, the Ergodox has only four comfortable thumb keys, you can see that they're almost as far away from the thumb as the alt key of a regular keyboard:Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/zk5ozRV.png)
My question is, what was your reasoning against putting that extra key? There's plenty of space, looks like it would perfectly fit in there...
I hope it wasn't because of aesthetics or that the number of keys had to be a exponentiation with base 2.

I don't think space is the issue... I think it's just the ergonomics and position of the keys.
We had a 5th key on a number of the prototypes. We actually had six on a few. We couldn't get them positioned comfortably for most users. Even 4 is too much of a stretch for some folks with 19mm spacing. (We'll be tightening up the arc some for production.)
There's also the side issue that it's a lot easier to distinguish 4 keys by feel than 5.
Those comments make me cringe. :(
