Mine was purchased second hand but as far as I know they are not silenced from the factory. I have however done a silencing mod on mine because I prefer it that way.

Personally having used multiple types of cherry mx switches (stock clear mx being my favorite) as well as 45g and 55g topre in the HHKB, realforce, type heaven etc I have settled on using the realforce full size topre variable board.

YES, the Thorpies are intoxicating BUT the 55g has always been my greatest downfall from the Cherry ensemble and I keep hating myself for that sick type of behaviour :'( .

I had considered buying one of these to try, but I looked through sales threads here and elsewhere to see how much luck people had with reselling, and it seemed in most cases they either lost money or they didn't sell very quick. Had I had the money to loose I would've done it but it's been an expensive keyboard month and I have my sights set on a g80-18xx

Good to know about the uniform 55g being the most popular. I had considered grabbing a novatouch tkl from a store that has 30 day returns on keyboards just to see if topre was something i might enjoy, but the more i read about it it seems the consensus is its not quite the same experience as a uniform realforce or hhkb.

Oh yes, you can tweak your nipples regarding NCIX, especially when they run one of their sales 8) .
