Post by: Findecanor on Thu, 11 June 2015, 07:25:29
British actor Sir Christopher Lee has passed away at the age of 93.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/celebritynews/11666316/christopher-lee-dies-live.html

He played among other things Saruman in the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies,  The Man with the Golden Gun (in the Bond movie with the same name) and in several movies as Dracula. He was also Frankenstein's monster in Frankenstein movies and in The Wicker Man - the original one.
Not long ago, he also performed in Heavy Metal albums and sang with the Tolkien Ensemble.

RIP. It was a stellar performance in the recent Hobbit when they were fighting the Nazgul.

Man, what a great loss.

On a somewhat lighter note, I now apparently get my breaking news from GH!

Awesome guy, looked great for his age. I actually was speaking to guys at work about him last week, saying I was surprised he wasn't dead yet... =/

My bad. RIP.

That is sad to hear. A good innings for 93 and quite a life, he was acting and making music pretty much until the end.

Loved his rolls in LoTR and The Hobbit.  Obviously that is a very small sample of his work but its what I knew him as, and he played the rolls amazingly.  On another note the fact that he released a Heavy Metal Album in his 90's was amazing.  I guess I just assumed he would live well into his 100's based on how well he looked for being 93 and being able to do what he did.

Definitely sad to see him go, but he lived an extremely fulfilling life! What other 92 year old released a Metal album?

The guy is a legend! The list of stuff he has done is astounding!

You are not alone. He was one of those celebs that I had checked up on now and then... "Is he dead yet?" ...

Because the prequels have a kind of cheesy vibe about them. I don't think they will go down in history as his greatest roles.

I'm actually a big Star Wars fan and also posted the news today at a Star Wars forum where I mentioned Count Dooku in the title and first among his credits, followed by him having worked with Peter Cushing who had also been in Star Wars.

RIP

He is the first actor I can remember hearing about when my parents were talking about him when I was a tiny little Rowdy.  Can't remember the context, but the name stuck for some reason.

I really enjoyed reading his biography awhile back. He led a very interesting life prior to acting and worked with all the great actors of the horror genre.

RIP Dracula

I love the fact that despite the fact he was over 80 he was still involved with metal. Not my genre but respect where it's due.
