I just ordered a furminator like comb for my cat .What do you do to help keep her/him from shedding?
-
I had one but found it would strip my dog's coat. Nowadays I use a slicker brush and a rubber curry brush when he's blowing out his coat. I had a kong zoomgroom as well, enjoyed that too, but he found it and ate the brush tips off :))

Shave them. No more shedding.

Hm I was a bit sceptical about those slicker brushes.Feels like they wont be working in a months time..How durable are they? Rubber curry brushes seem to work well tho,at least for dogs. But I guess for cats too.It is only that they have thinner hair

She shaves my pubes down to keep those under control, so she should be shaving the damn dog.
I maybe get a few pubes on the toilet rim, but that damn mutt piles up hair in every corner of the house every 2-3 days.

Wait, it's a dog?
I take it back. Leave the dog alone you heathen!

I bought one for my two longer haired dogs and it works pretty great. Only downside for them is that you gotta be careful around the belly because the "bristles" are very hard, semi sharp, metal. So the angle you use it at makes a difference here.
I used the same Furminator comb on my cats and omg it does a great job of stripping the undercoat. It really improved the look of the cats after and the amount of shedding they do now, especially in the summer months.
Would definitely recommend a Furminator.

I use one for my cat (mini fur factory), and it works very well. much better than the shedding blade and slicker brush that I used before. just need to be careful like Seranite mentioned.
