Title: Hello fellow Enthusiasts
Post by: Pathological Gamer on Thu, 11 June 2015, 15:10:32
I have just recently gotten into mechanical switches and was looking for some advice on what a first timer like myself should get. I was thinking about the das 4 or even the corsair k70 but if you guys have any other suggestions it would help out a lot. Thanks in advanced

Welcome to Geekhack!

It used to be easy to recommend the QFR if you don't want backlighting, and a Ducky Shine if you did.  Now there are dozens and dozens of great keyboards out there.

Do you want full size?  Or TKL (without the number pad), or 60% (without number pad of function keys)?  Or something else?

ABS or PBT keycaps?  Or do you intend replacing the keycaps yourself?  Hint: you probably will at some stage anyway.

Backlighting or not?

ANSI or ISO (or Dvorak or another alternative layout)?

Do you know, or do you think, you'd prefer stiffer switches, or softer switches?
