Hey everyone, this is my first post on geekhack. I found the keyboard community through r/mechanicalkeyboards, and I found r/mk through r/battlestations. I have been researching for the perfect computer for about 2 years now, and have only obtained 3 of the many parts for the build, the case, the OS, and the keyboard. After about a year of research, I had found the perfect build. I had grown bored after a few days, because I had accomplished my goal of finding the best possible parts for my budget. I was browsing every single submission on the hot page on r/battlestations for the second time until I saw related subreddits, one of them being r/mk. I opened the page, and was amazed by how many ****ing people dropped $150 on a single keycap. I instantly latched onto the keyboard hobby, and it is what I have been doing ever since.
I got my first mech about a week ago, the POK3R with mx blues. I also snagged myself a cherry switch tester from wasd keyboards and 4 aluminum keycaps from geekkeys, for $98, prior to getting my first mech.
I joined this website because it was a requirement for signing up for the brocap auction on ctrlalt, so I was like why not, lmao.
So that is how I arrived to this very website on this day. it was a long and tiresome journey, but I think I found my home in the keyboard community :)
Thanks to anyone that read my story about how I got into mechanical keyboards! :D

Welcome to Geekhack!
$150 for a single keycap is pretty tame these days. Some go for $800 or more
The thing with making a perfect build is that a couple of months later most of it is out of date ... except the keyboard :D A good keyboard will last you for years, and you can take it from workstation to workstation.
