I just read an interesting story of how someone is in the process of rebuilding a BW keyboard: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=72828.0

Although that's kind of extreme, most people just try to change the keycaps and then give up and buy a new keyboard.

Razer mouses are not that bad, or so I've heard.
