Title: Convert cherry switch to topre?
Post by: aspire5550 on Tue, 16 June 2015, 09:39:58
So, there's this thread over at r/mech and it is quite interesting. Not sure whether it is shared here already but I can't seem to find any discussion about it. So here goes.

I would like to know how close is it to topre's feel, if not, does it have the topre feel at all?

From what I know it's only to protect the board from dust and splashes. The only thing it should change the feel of, is bottoming out. But I'm sure there are people here that have tried it for themselves and can give you a better idea of the feel. But in no way will it feel like Topre
Even Topre clones don't really feel like Topre ;)

To me that's more trolling than anything.

It feels interesting with the splashguard, but too heavy with Cherry MX blacks. Red springs would feel better. The space bar, though, feels terrible.

Splash Guard + Ergo Clears = most tactile switch I've used.

I would say it feels close to 55g Topre, but better (I prefer the cushioned spring in MX over the collapsing unsupported dome in Topre).

But no. It is not identical
