While I was doing my own research on how the topre would feel and sound while typing, I have encountered an article about Topre farts. It's like a soft gentle whoopie cushion from the rubber cup. Now that I've been using a HHKB Pro 2 for two months already, I always enjoy the "thock" and the fart from it. I didn't chose the Type-S because it's more expensive and I feel that it's like a suppressed version of the regular Pro 2.
What are your thoughts on the "thock" and fart? Do you like the regular Pro 2 or the Type-S version?

in pretty much all samples I have heard, I like the DIY silenced or type s sound more. I actually the DIY silence a bit more.
-
I've always told people typing on HHKB reminds me of popping bubble wrap. It's really satisfying.
I have a Type-S and a pro 2. I silenced the pro 2 but took off the bands after a few months. The shortened throw and loss of feedback on return actually ruined the feel of the keyboard to me.
I can't say that I prefer one over the other but I keep the Type-S at the office so I end up using it a whole lot more.

mmmm....thock.
What is this "topre fart" though? All I can find on it are a couple of r/mk threads. Apparently it goes away too...my RF 87u must be broken in by now. Haven't noticed any noises like this.

I think the stems on the Type-S is a bit longer compared to the regular Pro 2 to offset the landing pad. That's the reason of the shorter travel

It's also called as "whistling". Here's a video from keychatter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRW2lhPsEXA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRW2lhPsEXA)

I've never heard my HHKB fart or whatever also I prefer the sound of an unsilenced topre board.

Part of the Thorpie allure is that it farts in your face, whilst raping your wallet 8) .

Im kind of skeptical of these Topre keyboards. I think the best of the vintage Rubber Domes are 90% as good, but for 1/10th the price. I have an Noppoo EC108-Pro 45g coming. We'll see.

Just to let you know, there is a slight difference in feel/quality of Noppoo's attempt at topre and real topre.

So Ive heard. There is also a $100 price difference.
-
While I believe that's a totally justifiable decision, you can't call it 'Topre' when you describe it

Im not expecting to be wowed. We'll see.

This is called a tweef.

This is called a tweef.
It's been a long day and I needed a good giggle. This delivered exactly what I needed.

Both my 6 and 9 keys tweef...oh boy.
At least now I can relate to this phenomenon. Number keys do it because I hardly ever use them :blank:

Usually fetishes like that attract a price premium. Uh, so I've heard. I knew there was a reason Topre costs extra. :)

I have not heard that from my HHKB, it must be too refined :)
