I've got a 122 key model M here that has a UK style (L shaped) enter key that I'd like to replace with a rectangular enter key and backslash key, but unfortunately the hole under where backslash would go has no spring in it.
If I want to put in a rocker and spring assembly, is there a painless way of doing it? I seem to recall I'll need to break all the molten-plastic tabs mounting the black piece to the metal plate in order to insert a spring.

Bah. I hoped that wouldn't be the case...
Nice writeup though, makes it look a bit more manageable... I was thinking hot glue, which would take a lot less time though would probably make for an awful sound. It's a labor of love though, and I think I could stand to put in the time for such a beast of a keyboard... Now I just need to find several dozen matching screws and nuts.
