Title: Every Asian, should watch this !!

So,  mandarin requirement will be kinda high, you might not enjoy it if you're too ABC..

But, holy hell, this is the best C-Drama I've EVER SEEN....

It's about the 1 and only Empress of China.  Essentially she rose to power as one of many "wives".

But when it comes to the King's wives, there are levels, and the story is about the in fighting,  much like the cousin-wars of europe.



It really hits home, the idea that , polygamy totally doesn't work... HAHAHAHA

ALSO,,   FanBingBing is insanely pretty , like WTF pretty... like, you see her and you're like, WHAaaaa she's not a real person. (http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion/cfed93e2.gif)


It's super girly in the beginning, but don't worry, that lets up...  then they all try to kill each other in secret...

I wish I was Asian, so I could fully enjoy this. And my mandarin skills are somewhat lacking...

Yea'   it's a real shame that it's impossible to adequately translate this old-language style.  it's got too many contractions.


I'm actually thought about subbing this myself for people, but the languages are too different, and the flavor is gone..

I'm Chinese but I was never taught any of the dialects since I was born in the US.  :(

haha..

no, it's in Mandarin.  but the words are stylized such that even most chinese people read the "chinese" subtitles,  otherwise they too wouldn't know what the people are talking about.


It's like reading old english,  where you may know the word,  but if you got a big string of it,  sometimes it doesn't make any damn sense.(http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion/077.gif)

Yeah, I'm way to ABC for any C-Drama lately.  I don't keep up  with the trend and I'm used to the old 80-90's actors/actress.  My cantonese is already bad enough that I still require subs.   :))

Well, you could download an episode, and see if it clicks..

Oh Man.. Now I'm really Angry...


Apparently, the Mainland Broadcast version,  from episodes 20 and on was "Censored"..   


They essentially used zoom-in cutoffs and CGI to censor the Tang-Dynasty style dresses w/ revealing cleavage which the People's Republic deemed unfit for general audience.


I watched all 92 episodes already..  Fffffffffff.........    OMG,  you can't even begin to imaginee how Extra Angry I am...  (http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion/8dcf9699.gif)

Mom told me that this is REALLY good, but as someone who used to live in China and know a bit of their old history
I think they're overdressed, or might say dress less :D ....

90+ episodes?  Yeah, I think I'll pass now.  I've been too spoiled with J-Drama with there 13 episode shows that going back to anything longer is too torture some for me.   I don't have the attention span now-a-days to sit through long dramas.
