I would look at the Razer Blackwidow Chroma (or Tournament Chroma which is a tenkeyless version) with Orange Switches
or wait for the Roccat Ryos MK Pro RGB coming out this Fall, you can research the Roccat Ryos MK Pro current version.
I can't afford a 1000 dollar keyboard but I can afford 300 dollars or a bit more. I just want the regular key layout, 104 keys, preferably with the 10 key for extra coolness :P, and maybe some macro keys. I I would prefer a keyboard that faces me at about a 5-10 degree angle, and I am find with pretty much any caps as long as they feel solid. I have an almost unlimited budget but can't go splurging 1k on one.So please don't use the word "unlimited", you would go bankrupt within a month on GeekHack :))
XD, I heard some people say it was good and some people topre was bad, but I am mixed.
- Ducky Shine 5
- Filco MJ2
- Leopold 750R
- KUL
KMAC
LZ-S
LZ-GH
LZ-FE
356 DGE
360 Corsa
So this is my current list to look into. any additions? How expensive is it to make a custom keyboard? I don't want the best, just something I can be proud of.
A custom can get very expensive fast:
Ok, remember this guys but are there any backlit topres, :P at all? :P As posted above I want brown, red, or topre switches, and this is my first gaming keyboard. Please read the top post for more info. Also just please post your favorite Mechanical keyboards for gaming. Yours!
Now, I did add some more small things and splurged a bit here and there so the end result is a +$1,000 board. Starting from a base of $400I'll do some calculations on my current board.(all prices in )
Item Cost Orion set €354 SkiData keyboard for parts €91 Transparent keytops €31 Stabilizers & Stickers €26 USB cable €27 Various small parts & shippings €75 Total €604
Your budget is way beyond anything I usually think about, but...GON (http://www.gonskeyboardworks.com/) maybe?Ok, remember this guys but are there any backlit topres, :P at all? :P As posted above I want brown, red, or topre switches, and this is my first gaming keyboard. If you just want a rock solid full size keyboard, get a Filco Majestouch-2 with reds and be done with it. Endgame keyboard. :)+1

Some people really like the Razer Deathstalker Ultimate (or Steelseries Apex) with chiclet style keys. But I say go with a Logitech G13 or Razer Orbweaver before that....and get you a better typing keyboard.
How has nobody mentioned the Romer G?

Guessing you've never dealt with Synapse before...How has nobody mentioned the Romer G?
Wondering this too. For gaming, it's quite nice. I just type a *lot* more often than I game so I'd never drop the cash on the G910.
Ok, guys, Maybe I should have said this but because of my current situation I HAVE ONE SHOT AT FINDING THE RIGHT KEYBOARD. I can not buy multiple ones, even if they are cheap. I have one shot at finding the best AND FIRST gaming keyboard for me so I can't just buy a $120 one. I need the bets ones you can come up with. Do you guys feel backlighting is necessary also? It just feels like extra price to me. So just give me one good, keyboard of your choice. Switches I want are topre/red/brown. I am find with a tkl but nothing too small.
logitech... didnt I say red, brown or topre?
AKA what would be a good topre keyboard for around $250? I can go a bit over, but not that much. Would an hhkb be good? or a realforce? Also is there any chance that the filco kb is better than this? Because after reading amzon review that blatantly said filco was worse than the u87 55g realforce I was swayed.
Also what makes ducky shine 3 better than 4/5
No, just ultra spammingI would look at the Razer Blackwidow Chroma (or Tournament Chroma which is a tenkeyless version) with Orange Switches

Obvious troll is troll.
FTFYAlso what makes ducky shine 3 better than 4/5Stay away from Realforce / HHKB / Novatouch / Royal Kludge / Topre, if you can't handle the oneness of cupped rubber in it's magnificent glory.
ANY KEYBOARD IS A GAMING KEYBOARD
Dropped out of kindergarten cause I play no games
this **** right here...And I played along with it for two pages... :-[
this **** right here...
Does the thread mean "what keyboard games for unlimited budget?"
This should be a contender:
OP BUY A LOGITECH
TURN THAT SUM ***** SIDE WAYS AND STICK IT UP YOUR CANDY ASS.
TKL with reds then. Ducky Shine (not Zero) if you need backlighting. KUL ES-87 or Filco Majestouch-2 if not.
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=73144.0Nice catch, Ray :))
So you have a filco already? And you ordered a realforce board?
And you've designed a custom?
https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=73149.0
You are moving up fast.
hurts to see all of you get trolled like thisOn the contrary, I do believe a lot people know it but they are just kidding just for fun
c'mon, geekhackers
Yeah, since I couldnt decide I listened to JDCarpe and bought a filco mastertouch over the ducky since it probably has better quality and now I want to backlight it. I also ordered the Realforce to try topre. Does that sound trollish?
filco mastertouch

Romer G'sssss
 Unce unce unce unce
Jokes aside I would love to try Romer-Gs if it was on a non-spaceship command keyboard.
Why are people still replying to this troll?
;D
The Ducky Shine series is great if you need a quality keyboard with backlighting. If you play games in the dark, you need backlighting.
You can customize the keys and grab whatever switches you want.

... If you play games in the dark, you needbacklighting.an attitude adjustment slap
...
Romer G'sssssI've tried it after using both Cherry and Topre. The low key travel distance was terrible and the keyboard felt mushy to type on.

Have you considered a Razer?
Psssh, can't go wrong with a Corsair board. The LEDs will last forever, you can easily swap new cap sets, abd the firmware is rock solid, not to mention Corsair's amazing support and willingness to accept and address problems that may affect a whole range of products.I've heard of several people with Corsair boards that have failed LEDs... Even the RGB boards. That being said, it's an issue with just about all LED boards, and Corsair's RGB setup is arguably the best out there. I would go with the K70/K90 (5?) or I would use the Cherry MX Board 6.0 with Real-Key, if you want to be crazy about latency (or lack thereof) that you literally can't tell was there in the first place. Plus, the low profile caps are pretty cool. (I have one, and it's pretty good, but reds are weird to get used to if you're used to browns... Great keyboard though, and the aluminum top housing is excellent! Oh, and I love that some of the keys have double color LEDs.) Well worth the $200-$250, if it has what you're looking for. I bought one, and once I got used to the switches, I quite like it, although I do have to admit that I will be selling it and going for something like a Pok3r, and trying to put some LEDs on it. (Oh, and some blank PBT caps...)

Nubbs was being sarcastic.See, I'm really, really good at understanding sarcasm through text. (It really has to be dripping with sarcasm, and then some, if I'm going to get it...) Oh well...

Have you considered a Razer?
Can we stop suggesting Razer keyboards, just because they're "gamer" oriented doesn't mean they're good, I've owned five different razer products and all but one broke on me in about a year. Like OP said he wants to get one keyboard and be done with it, I think OP is jumping the gun when trying to get an endgame keyboard and should just end up using a ducky or filco because they get the job done.
