Title: HHKB 55g mod...need help
Post by: last100yen2 on Wed, 24 June 2015, 07:47:43
I am modding my HHKB with 55g dome from realforce
I am also doing the dental mod as well

Everything was fine until I need to close the case, some keys would not function
I think I am not getting correct alignment with the springs when closing the case

I have read several threads and I am flipping the keyboard so that I drop the lubber skin and spring into the other side of the keycaps....

what is the best way to align the spring the close the case...help....

(Keys like Enter,? ! usually have problems....)

I just put the rubber down on the bottom of the sliders, hand placed the springs in and it worked fine. Make sure you have the rubber in their proper places. You might have some of them on their side, instead of how they should be. It's hard to describe via text.

Make sure the domes are oriented with the notches fitting into the housing cutouts, especially on the domes that are not in the sheet. Also, when you lay the PCB back down, again ensure that the dome edges are seated properly: you will see kind of a sandwich of plastic, dome rubber, and pcb flush against each other. Sometimes, that's how they end up a little crooked or off...
