Who made the green ones ? Used punksdeads stems.

...Used punksdeads stems.
That's actually really interesting that you're able to ID one cap stem vs. another. Are there like a few "major" stem makers/versions out there that are used by all of the small(er) artisan makers, or are the stems themselves generally unique to the artisan themselves? I've never heard that this was actually a thing so I'm curious!

Clack used the Topre stem for Topre. Hipsterpunks used it as well for the first 3/4 of his mummy molds. Then he designed his own Topre stem.
Ive seen Nubs and now KK use it as well. Which is fine, it is an amazing design and works well. I was just curious who made these.

I made them, definitely didn't use punks stems seeing as I don't own a KBK / KWK
Filled the center in with clay myself...
edit: more pictures of caps that came from the same molds here

Those caps are gorgeous, so of course you made them, Katz! :thumb: Out of curiosity, did you pass on using punks stems because you knew/thought that you'd be able to improve upon the stem itself, or did you mainly just want to have something that was purely "your" creation?

It's not an improvement by any means; punks did a much cleaner job with the topre stem. The reason I filled the stem in my original molds was to reduce the amount of places that air could be trapped, since I wasn't using pressure at the time. There are only so many ways to fill the space between the two parts of the stock topre stem, hence the similarities between ours.

For clarification, I've never used anyone's stems except my own. I respect other artisans too much to mold any part of their caps. My Topre stems were all modified Topre caps (I filled the stem with the same material I use to make my masters) and they are moving to 3D modeled ones I did myself. The filled in Topre stem was because I was not happy with the strength or durability of the standard Topre style stem and felt that it should be filled in for max durability and strength.
My MX now are ones I 3D modeled myself. I'm planning on switching over to square stems shortly that will be MX and Topre cross mount compatible.I've worked on a dual compatibility Topre/MX stem that I'd like to do, but no printers seem to have a high enough resolution to successfully make. Alps stems are coming as are BS stems once I get the BS stem finalized. Both of those will also be stems I entirely 3D modeled on my own.
