Post by: ccarlitos2 on Wed, 08 July 2015, 15:10:59
Hey! I started longboarding at the beginning of the summer and I love it so much. Just curious if anyone else here does any kind of longboarding :) I mostly just cruise and carve, I really want to get into DH. Being in Florida though that is kind of hard

My boards right now:

2015 Riviera Beta Fish
Wheels: Divine Wheel Co. 75mm 82a Street Slayers
Trucks: 180mm Paris V2 Trucks

Haha yes, but the breeze as you ride feels so nice! Also if you are doing downhill it takes no effort to move forward :p

I really need to get back into longboarding. I'm pretty terrible at it, but I enjoy riding around.

I have a bustin maestro with paris 180 trucks and orangatang stimulus 70mm 83a wheels.

My board is currently back at my home for the summer though since I couldn't figure out a way to bring it with my on a plane easily, so no pictures :(

Are there some good hills around there?

From what I've seen it's pretty flat for the most part, but I'm also in the city itself and it's hard to explore much further than the city without a car. Also I'm not good at getting outside and exploring as much as I should.

LOL man does this bring back memories. I was actually a local racer (going down garages) in my city back in 09/10. We had a group of like 30+ people doing races weekly.

Had a Landyachtz Evo. I forget the setup though...

Don't have as much spare time as I used to though since my love of GH. It's been a while, but I'll let you know if I'm suddenly back on my board again. I appreciate the invitation! :))

(If you wanna see some keyboard stuff though, let me know!)

Haha I'm always down for keyboard stuff. When september comes around and I have some money I'll probably be sending at least one board to you for switch swap and LEDS :) to save on shipping maybe when that happens I'll head down.

Ewww, Longboards :p

I don't know why the "old" types went out of style...It's been eons since I've seen someone with an "old" style board.

I LOVED my Billy Ruff! (mine was grey)

Also had a Slasher...

I should probably just buy the boards and put em up on a wall :p

Longboarding is a legal high :)

This was before most of your times: back in the day when I surfed for Team Morey Boogie, off season I skated with Gator Rogowski and other no-names. I hear he's eligible for parole in a couple more years. Skate on!

These are actually back in style in some circles. I have a friend that travels around the USA filming and skating (greatest job in the world) and he tells me to get one like that. I tried to contact him for advice, but can't get a hold of his busy ass. Which brings me to...

I skated and snowboarded as a teenager. After several concussions (one REALLY bad one) I was forced to quit. Now I'm looking to just build a street cruiser. I do NOT want a longboard, but rather a regular deck (probably pretty wide... maybe 8.25?) and some 50-60mm wheels. Essentially it will function as a longboard but still let me goof around with the old flip tricks I used to have a handle on.

Any advice on trucks? Risers? Wheel brands?

someone in another longboarding thread mentioned landyachtz. i checked them out and saw their 'cruiser' line of decks. i thought, "hey my last skateboarding experience of getting stopped by a pebble and doing a face plant wasn't so bad!"  but really, i don't need to do that to myself again. but.. maybe you do! check out their "urban" cruisers. the dinghy and/or tugboat sound like just what you're looking for.

I'm not knowledgeable enough to help I'm sorry :/ I would go to the longboarding subreddit though and ask in the Daily General Thread. They are a nice bunch of skaters who would be willing to help!
