Title: Topre Realforce 91UBY - New Japan only model

Here is the latest Realforce which Topre revealed this morning. From what they are writing on their site its not going to be a limited edition and should be available for sale soon.

The new model includes the generic 91 key 10-key-less Japanese layout.

Features:
* Uniform 45g layout
* High-contrast black on yellow keycap sublimation printed keycaps
* 4 replacement black on black WSAD keys
* F and J have no home row indicators, instead there is one home row indicator nub on the S key.
* Windows and Application key can be disabled using dipswitch settings
* CTRL/Capslock can be swapped using dipswitch settings (according replacement keycaps are included)
* ESC and Eng/Jp switch key (tilde key on an English keyboard) can be swapped (according replacement keycaps are included)

Nothing too revolutionary here.

Also could it be that it's based on the older 86U design and not the 87U? I don't see leds on the Caps lock and/or left Ctrl key.

I agree, nothing too fancy. Though I kind of like the colors. I might try to get my hands onto one of these, since I planned on finally testing out a Realforce anyway!

Also.. in before ripster goes "revolutionary dipswitches!"

The 91U line of keyboards started production in 2004 and none of them have had LED's on them. The 86U was not built until 2008 prior to that the only non Japanese layout keyboards that they built were the 101 and the 103 and OEM boards.

I do agree nothing revolutionary here it is just a 91UDK-G with different key caps.

Now what I would like to get is the 89U because the space bar was longer. When they added the windows keys to the 89U to make the 91U they had to shrink the space bar.

I also think that the Japanese layout is quite nice. I hit the spacebar between the c and v key with my left hand when playing games so I don't know if that would fit with the layout.

Those extra keys could be easily remapped to something actually useful.

Keyboardco.com had them in stock for quite a while. There were rumours that they were going to start stocking a uniform 45g keyboard (tenkeyless ANSI) at some stage.

Also does anyone have pictures of the extra keycap sets?

SA0100KT1: white
SA0100KT2: sky-blue
SA0100KT3: red
SA0100KT4: yellow
SA0100KT5: orange

I would kind of like to know what the sky-blue keys look like. Was thinking about getting some replacement keys for my 87 u so I can read the legends on the keys.

I have read that benippon.com carried them in the past, as well as the black 91 key version, but they are down as a result of the radiation evactuations in Japan.

Yes, they are the greatest keyboard to ever house Topre domes.  Unfortunately the only way to get them in the USA or Europe was to order from a dude in Korea that charged a 50% premium via ebay.  Otherwise there were some sites like Leupold that had them.

Ripster had a pic of a white/white version (no grey modifers).  Can't remember which thread it was in, though.

Tell me about it!  Its sitting in front of me =).  I could have sworn you found one.  I think I asked you about boards with Kana modifiers and you posted a pic of a white 91U with kana on the keys.  Perhaps it did have grey and white keys and I am mistaken.

NM... I found it.  Its just a more washed out picture, but the modiferes are still grey.

Who knows.
My friend in Korea sent me one; so lucky me.
She got it off Leopold for me, along with a bunch of other goodies.
It the same thing as the black one... just white.

I think majestouch didn't chose this method for an obvious reason.

I think the added contrast and shadows makes it look sharper than it actually appears in real life. Looking at other pictures of the same board I sort of see what he's talking about.
