How is choosing a motherboard the hardest computer decision you've ever had to make? But he didn't say he ever had to make.

Or maybe my reading comprehension is terra-bad
EDIT: It's bad. NEVER MIND, ABORT

Well, OK, Mr. Smartipants..... How would YOU go about deciding between these 2 motherboards...Show Image(http://www.cute-factor.com/images/smilies/onion/233cd70a.gif)

Which colour goes best with the build? ;)
Other than that, it's about practicality. How many SATA ports, position of PCIE ports, number of USB 3 ports on the back, etc etc

I don't know about you guys, but it seems like every time I buy a mobo, there are less ports and slots, in more awkward configurations, as the years go by.
And it's not just form factor, I have tried micros, but I generally only shop full ATX.
I would like, and could use, several (ie >3 PC/PCI-E/etc) slots and more (ie >5) SATA ports.
And I don't even care much about graphics cards !
Oh god... Way to Newb it up...

The only thing that matters on motherboards is Power delivery, Overclocking, and Bios design/stability..
That is it.. NOTHING else matters, it's all fluff.. like fog-lights... YOU don't need um.

I've been into my BIOS once since I put my PC together.
Contrary to what you believe, not everybody needs to overclock their CPUs.
Inb4 Skylake drops next week and prices of previous gen CPUs drop :P
derrrr
power regulation is actually handled by the CPU nowadays.
the mobos are there to route, not to control the 'quality' of power (much simpler task overall). the bar is VERY low; you're mainly buying circuitry that has a long enough lifespan rating, not the best throughput.
it's like saying that you need a good mobo before you can OC a gpu
Buying a CPU cooler is so damn hard....

Why don't you use the stock intel one?i swear he's gonna take the bait
Not overclocking is kind of a silly decision because it's just free performance waiting to be unlocked.
