So, on my Unicomp Model M I've noticed that the D key makes less of an audible ping than all of the other keys.
It's more linear than the others and it sounds muffled and is much softer to press. I've already pulled the key and had a look, everything looks normal but I haven't gone all the way down to the hammer yet.
I've got a fair amount of experience taking these keyboards apart and repairing them so I'd like to know if this is something that I should tackle myself, or turn over to the Unicomp warranty period?
Any suggestions?

If you could look down the barrel, can you see if the hammer is twisted out of place? If it's still under warranty, you could send it to be fixed. I don't know what else to say.

I have an SSK with a similar problem with the Esc key, although it hasn't bothered me enough to delve too deeply into doing anything about it. My Esc still works.
I will be following this thread with interest, just in case :)

Same here with the Escape on the SSK.
Model Ms have varying degrees of feel and sound sometimes, but Fs are more consistent.

I just pulled the cap and key again, there's no abnormalities that I can judge from my standpoint. I may just contact Unicomp and have it returned under warranty since it bothers me a bit since it's a key that I use frequently.
