Maybe MX Greens. Not MX Blues.
That being said, different switch mechanisms so yeah, it's not that close.
If anything, it should be like this:
Beamspring/DisplayWriter > F > M > M2 > that weird buckling sleeve switch
There really isn't a father to the MX blues. Their mechanism is completely different from their predecessors. MX blues are really just linear switches that have been manipulated to simulate a true tactile clicky switch. They can't even be compared to alps.
Buckling springs feels 'organic' compared to the plastic feeling that mx blue has.
Maybe MX Greens. Not MX Blues.

buckling sleeves feel more like domes than anything... wouldn't even consider them to be in the same category as any of the spring switches...
Just received my Model F XT... All I can say is WOW! I thought the Model M felt good... The F is on a whole new level...

Though in my experience - pressing a Model F switch against an MX Green switch, the Green actuates before the F, and during release - the F resets before the Green.

Uh-oh, Snowdog's not going to like this... I think I'll clear out of here before he turns up. :?)
As for what Snarf meant about the relationship between the Model F and Cherry blues: I don't think he was making an analytical, scientific observation, but rather a more experiential one—like comparing how one feels when experiencing the works of two artists. It's just as legitimate.
It's interesting and fun to know about hardware's discrete physical properties, but the people who use it are also an important part of the equation, and you omit them at your own peril. Okay, just wanted to wind up by saying something dramatic and artsy-craftsy.

After a few days now, I am stilll loving the Model F but I the cherry mx just feel too light and not as 'organic' as the model f. I am still leaving my 87U 55g plugged in and use it at night as its quieter. Coming straight from the model f, the 87U is buttery smooth and not as aggressive but more-so slick and sublime which I quite like. Still better than the Model M.
