Title: problem with cm storm quickfire rapid
Post by: lekki on Wed, 29 July 2015, 23:34:25
hi i just got a problem with cm storm quickfire rapid last night.
I use it with my macbook pro 13, and realized that this keyboard gives me random special characters endlessly.
When i type with macbook internal keyboard, everything is fine.
But with cm storm keyboard, every type shows special characters and whenever i try to get on some webpages, the computer just downloads the pages instead of visiting (only when cm storm is hooked up).
It had been fine for like an year, and this is just happening.
anyone knows what to do? this is so frustrating with like $100 keyboard after less than year..

Can you enable the Keyboard viewer in system prefs and see if a modifier is being activated with the keyboard plugged in?

I could be wrong, but I vaguely remember a potential issue with QFR's where maybe the Alt key got stuck activated. Maybe opening the case or loosening one of the screws to relieve pressure somewhere fixed it? I could be way off base here, my memory isn't great, but someone here probably knows what's going on.

Welcome to Geekhack!

+1 for what FuriousGeorge said - a too tight case was a known issue for QFR, and the simple solution was to loosen the screws just a little bit.

If that doesn't help, can you try the keyboard on a different computer?  Or try using it in a different position e.g. on a different desk or something.
