Already made a post on this section of the forum a while back. Reddit's been a bit dull for me recently (pls no haterino, i think all the ripster GH Reddit drama is childish), and I've been loving this site so far. MAN DO A LOT OF YOU KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT KEYBOARDS! (AND OWN A LOT OF DAMN SEXY ARTISANS <3 ) The people here have been nothing but nice and friendly so far. However, I find it a bit hard to navigate this site, as I am a bit new to the forum layout of it, switching from reddit (not mutually exclusive!). I often find myself missing group buys, not knowing where to talk to people, missing out on seeing some cool keyboards and keycaps  , and especially, not knowing how to jump into the conversations that people have on posts. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks in advance!

Use the "Spy" link up in the top navigation menu. It will help you keep track of what is going on. I have the opposite problem you do, I can't figure out Reddit to save my life. I find it much easier to navigate around here. As for jumping into conversations, I'm no expert at that, but most new people who do it successfully just kinda jump right in with both feet and make friends quick. I still haven't perfected that "I'm friendly and social" part of my personality. :)
So, use Spy, join in the conversations and have some fun!
What boards do you have?

I think you're fun and social inanis. Or at least you are in absyrd's thread.
Do you mean like that reply OP? You just hit the quote button on the post you want to reply to.
And like inanis, I can't figure out reddit.

I've been trying! I'm glad to know coming out of my shell is being noticed! Plus, I mean, it is nearly impossible to NOT be social in that thread.
See, OP, we have a very supportive community going on here. So, join in the fun. :)

thanks, it's not always updated though is it? how do i sort threads by new, instead of just seeing the actively bumped threads? and damn... just saw the multi quote button haha, i just spammed this thread. thanks everyone!

I mean...just read threads and talk/ask questions. Anything in off topic is good for random chat too. No need to over think it. Jump in and it'll be fine :).
And just click on random stuff to see what it does. That's the only way I ever learned how forums work. Click on everything and see what happens. This is only the second forum I've ever really participated on.

It gets updated manually, but the mod who maintains it tries to stay as up-to-date as possible.
I know you can mark a forum as read, and it'll show up differently if there are new unread posts, but I don't know of a way to see new threads in particular. Usually things don't go fast enough that new threads get quickly pushed off the first page of a board, so keeping an eye on the first page of the areas you're interested in should be good.
You can also set up notifications when new topics are posted in a board or boards of interest, but I don't remember the exact method of doing so. Usually keeping an eye on spy and subscribing to threads that interest you is a good enough way to keep an eye on things.
Click on everything and see what happens.
Pretty much this. You won't break anything :thumb:

Welcome to Geekhack!
Different forum software definitely have different ways of presenting and navigation :)
On GH there's the recommended reading (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=68372.0) thread - a few links to some essential information.
People have already pointed you to the spy (https://geekhack.org/index.php?action=recenttopics).
Then there is the media (https://geekhack.org/index.php?board=113.0) section, where you can find nice pictures of all sorts of keyboard and non-keyboard things.
Before group buys there are often interest checks (https://geekhack.org/index.php?board=132.0), so that's a good place to browse from time to time to give feedback on upcoming potential group buys.
Other than that, just start browsing and reply where you can :)

Perfect, I'll definitely read up on the recommended reading. Nice Clack!
