hey all,
i was wondering....
i'm really keen on this board
http://www.ebay.com/itm/231119498996
it's also on massdrop for another couple of hours, i may jump on that....
the thing is, if i get it with cherry stabs (which i hate), would i be able to replace them? i already ordered some stabilizer wires and plate mounts for costar stabs from WASD (kudos to them for even offering them and for the nice prices), but i'm not sure i can freely remove the cherry stabs from the board, like you can do with costar stab mounts.
pic for reference.
looking at it, it seems to me like it could be removed, so the option for replacing them without soldering should be possible. basically i'm just looking for confirmation from the more experienced modders :)
thanks

EDIT: looking at the photo again, i don't think i can remove the stabilizer, the wire would be stuck under the switch, even if i could remove the stabilizer mounts, correct?

It's definitely possible to remove Cherry stabilisers because I've done it myself before. As I recall, it's held onto the PCB with plastic clips which you can easily remove. How easy it is to put something else in I don't know.

It is possible to remove the Cherry stabilizers, but on a plate-mounted keyboard like the Varmillo you would need to desolder the switch between the stabs. If you can the replace the stab with a Costar one depends on the plate, I doubt that it is possible on the Varmillo.

unfortunately, that's a no-no for me...i don't want to open that thing up, nor do i want to tinker around with soldering. hell, i don't even know how to open it up without breaking the case, lol.
