Title: Need help finding a keycap set
Post by: Raptorsatan on Sun, 09 August 2015, 16:25:09
So, I just purchased a Filco MJ1 and am looking for new keycaps as this keyboard is second hand and the original a bit worn down. I'm specifically looking for something go with a blue/white/purple theme build I have going. I noticed the Keycool Gradient Keycaps on Massdrop but I am hesitant because of that damned typeface. Does anyone have a better suggestion?

The build in question is named Frostbyte, I've got sort of a winter theme going on with it. Heck I'd be ecstatic if I could find a few snowflake keycaps.

Edit: Better clarity to the theme of the build

I have blank blue PBT IMSTO keycaps that fit Standard layout boards if blanks interest you.

I really wish I could do blanks, I got a concussion in 2009 and am still getting the hang of touch typing again, I still have to reference my keyboard to reposition and find keys. from 104 WPM to 30 in one hit to the head.

A pity you missed the JTK debut sets: https://ctrlalt.io/buys/jtk-debut

You might like one of these sets:

http://www.pimpmykeyboard.com/deals/gravity/

Or if you can find one in the Classified, the Raindrop set is a nice white/blue combination. I'm sure there are others, but those are the ones that come to mind immediately.

There's also Olivetti (-inspired) sets out there - olivetti inspired will be cheaper probably.

Wow It's a super pity that I missed the JTK Debut Series... the one thing that make it twice as difficult is that I have a full 104 keyboard and a lot of the sets people have are only the 87

You could contact BunnyLake and ask if there will be any extras available or post in the Group Buy thread (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=71630.0) to see if anyone is willing to sell their set to you. Sometimes a person will join a GB and then decide the set isn't for them and you get some transfers happening before the sets get shipped out.

Good news, as far as I have heard, there will be extra JT debut sets once it finishes. I believe.

There is hope to be had!
