Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2013 Edition (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/301711194712?) - the auction starts at $1 + $13 shipping to sydney
""All connection cables cut. Missing keyboard leg. May have other undiagnosed faults."
- My guess is that the switches, caps and plate are all fine
- PCB is probably fine but you never know.
- One leg is definitely broken and I'm pretty sure he means the cable is broken.
- Sounds like he wanted to return / RMA it but razer told him to cut the cable rather than pay for shipping, I got told to do the same thing to an old deathadder a while back.
-
Unable to BIN.
Could be a decent source of reasonable priced switches provided you don't mind a bit of desoldering.
I might bid on it but I don't even know if I can be bothered watching this for 2 days to be honest. I was just going to BIN....oh well.
-
By the way, what do you mean by cut the cable?
How does this save any shipping costs? You cut the cables and take a picture to prove to them you bricked it?
-
Presumably these have non-removable cables, and for most people cutting the cable off renders the keyboard unuseable, hence valueless.
For those with the necessary skills though, it is fairly simple to replace a cable.
-
Yeah I've got a gutted blackwidow myself, the cable is non-detachable but would be easy enough to replace.
My question is why would Razer ask you to do this? Do you prove to them you bricked the board then they send you a new one without having to pay postage on the brick going back to them?
-
Unable to BIN.
Huh, I can't either. It was definitely there when I posted it though. I'll edit the main post

Yep, thats exactly it. When my deathadder broke and they were going to send me a new one they told me to just cut the cord with scissors and take a picture, they didn't want to pay for postage. If you were trying to scam them it would easy to fix the cable or fake the picture, I guess they rely on most people not being bothered or able to.
I dont actually know if that's what happened here but I can't really think of many other situations where "All connection cables [are] cut"
-
Fair enough. I suppose I'm not too surprised, the postage is huge from Australia.
It would be mighty easy to run game on Razer knowing this though! USB cables aren't exactly hard to fix.
They'd probably cotton on if you RMA'd more than a couple of things though. Not that I'm advocating this kind of nefarious behaviour.
-
Probably no more BIN because someone put a bid on it.
-
That's pretty annoying because at ~$30 that board is well worth it for the switches.
I would have gone for the BIN straight away.
-
"This listing was ended by the seller because the item was lost or broken." - maybe the seller was reading this thread and decided to keep it for the switches :))
-
Or repair the cable.

Sometimes Geekhack can be a pain, when it comes to educating ignorant sellers >:D .
