That's crazy. The blast was bigger then the nuke that hit Hiroshima. I hope the casualty rate stays low.

It wasn't. It's a 21 ton explosion. Little boy was 15kilotons.
That said, the pictures show absolute devastation and destruction of the area, including dormitories. It's incredible that there have only been 17 reported deaths so far. Hopefully it remains low.

I just got news from my dad, he's in Beijing but in the area closer to Tianjin. They didn't really feel the effects of the blast, but definitely hoping that everyone stays safe.

Who keeps dangerous stuff and chemicals near explosives? The owners were asking for this, I really hope most of their neighbours live to complain about it!
